We are looking for 14-18 year olds to help our group work roles over the school holidays by being a supportive peer volunteer to children and young people.

At the Dundee Child and Family Support Service we run school holiday activity days in Dundee, usually running Monday-Friday during the day and for around 5 hours per session.

The activity day group supports children and young people (ages 4-14 approx.) who have additional support needs. Volunteers help the children and young people to have fun and engage in various activities such as playing games, arts and crafts and going to local parks across Dundee. Volunteers can be linked on a 1:1 basis or 2 volunteers to support 1 child. we also look for a general helper who is not linked specifically but helps with the smooth running of the session. Whilst we are keen to recruit 14-18 year olds we welcome all volunteers aged 14+. please look at our other opportunities too.

All applications are done via www.barnardos.org.uk and the children's activity support-group helper will be listed. All applicants are asked to complete an induction process which may take up to 8 weeks and includes induction meetings, reference checks, PVG Disclosure Check and training to prepare you for your role. Full support is provided by the volunteer coordinator. No PVG Disclosure is required if you are age 14 or 15,

For the group work role applicants can apply from age 14. The role takes place in Dundee in a variety of locations, depending on where the activity days are going to be based. Volunteers can pick and choose how many sessions they would like to do over the school holidays, Prior to the role starting an email will be sent by the volunteer coordinator with dates/times/locations.

At the Dundee service when other opportunities become available for additional groups the Volunteer Coordinator will offer these additional opportunities.
