Summary

Group work roles support children and young people with additional support needs to engage with different activities in a supportive group setting

Detailed description

At the Dundee Child and Family Support Service we run school holiday activity days in Dundee which normally run Monday-Friday during the day and for around 4 hours per session. This group supports children and young people with additional support needs and volunteers who attend help the children and young people to have fun and engage in various activities. Activities at sessions can include playing games, arts and crafts and going to local parks. Volunteers can be linked 1:1, can be linked 2:1 or can be a general helper but this is sorted on the day of sessions.

All applications are done via www.barnardos.org.uk and the children's activity support-group helper will be listed. All prospective volunteers will need to complete an induction process which can take up to 8 weeks which includes induction meetings, reference checks, PVG Disclosure Check and induction training. Full support is provided by volunteer coordinator. No PVG Disclosure is required if 14 or 15,

For the group work role applicants can apply from 14. The role will take place in Dundee but locations will vary depending on where the activity days are going to be based. Volunteers can pick and choose how many sessions they would like to do over the school holidays, Prior to the role starting an email will be sent by the volunteer coordinator with dates/times/locations.

Driver is not essential to this role.

At the Dundee service when other opportunities become available through our own groups staff organise or through partnership working the Volunteer Coordinator will send out all available group opportunities to volunteers.
