Help young people build confidence through fun weekly group activities. Volunteer on Tuesday evenings with full training, support and expenses provided.

Join our friendly team of Befriends Group Support Volunteers and help create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable space where young people can have fun, make friends and grow in confidence.

Our weekly group sessions take place every Tuesday evening and last around 2 hours. Most sessions are held at the Befriends Dundee premises, although we also head out into the local community for a range of activities.

As a Group Support Volunteer, you'll work alongside other volunteers and Befriends staff to encourage young people to take part, build positive relationships and enjoy new experiences. You'll help create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, listened to and supported.

Activities may include:

  • Games and quizzes
  • Arts and crafts
  • Cooking and baking
  • Sports and outdoor activities
  • Team challenges
  • Seasonal celebrations
  • Visits to local attractions and community venues

No previous experience is needed. We're looking for friendly, reliable people who enjoy working as part of a team and want to make a positive difference in the lives of young people.

What's involved?

  • Volunteer on Tuesday evening for around 2 hours
  • Support young people to take part in activities
  • Help create a fun, inclusive and welcoming atmosphere
  • Build positive relationships with young people over time
  • Work alongside other volunteers and Befriends staff
  • Complete our volunteer training before starting

What we provide

  • Full induction and volunteer training
  • Ongoing support and regular check-ins
  • Reimbursement of travel and agreed volunteering expenses
  • Opportunities to develop new skills and meet other volunteers
  • A rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people's wellbeing and confidence

If you're approachable, enthusiastic and enjoy helping others, we'd love to hear from you.

Requirements

Volunteers must be aged 18 or over, complete our volunteer training, provide two references and undergo a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check.
