Help guide the future of Befriends Dundee as a Trustee. Use your skills and experience to support the charity's long-term success.
Befriends Dundee is looking for new Trustees to join our Board and help shape the future of our charity.
Our Trustees play a vital role in ensuring the organisation is well governed, financially sustainable and continues to provide high quality support for young people across Dundee.
You don't need previous Board experience to become a Trustee. If you care about improving the lives of young people and can bring enthusiasm, good judgement and a willingness to contribute, we'd love to hear from you.
We're particularly keen to hear from people who can bring different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds to our Board. We know that having a wider range of voices around the table helps us make better decisions and better reflect the communities we serve.
Whether you have experience in finance, HR, legal, fundraising, marketing, education, youth work, lived experience, community development or another area, your skills could help strengthen our organisation.
What does a Trustee do?
As a Trustee, you'll work alongside fellow Board members to:
- Help shape the charity's vision and strategy
- Ensure good governance and legal compliance
- Oversee finances and manage risk
- Support the long-term sustainability of the charity
- Act as an ambassador for Befriends Dundee
- Use your knowledge and experience to support decision making
Board meetings are held approximately every two months, with occasional involvement in sub-groups or events if you're able to contribute.
What we're looking for
We're looking for people who:
- Care about improving the lives of young people
- Can think strategically
- Are willing to ask questions and contribute ideas
- Can work collaboratively with others
- Share our values of respect, inclusion and compassion
No previous Trustee experience is necessary. We'll provide an induction and ongoing support to help you settle into the role.
What you'll gain
- The opportunity to make a lasting difference to young people's lives
- Experience of charity governance
- The chance to develop your leadership and strategic skills
- A welcoming and supportive Board environment
- The opportunity to meet people who share your passion for strengthening communities
If you've ever wondered whether becoming a Trustee is for you, we'd encourage you to apply. We welcome applications from first-time Trustees as well as those with previous Board experience.
