If you would like to help someone be heard, give them hope for the future and to truly make a difference then this is the volunteering role for you.
As a volunteer advocate you will meet up with people who need help to make their voice heard. The role may involve attending meetings with your partner to ensure they feel they have had an opportunity to put their point across. You may need to provide assistance with form filling or help to navigate through a call menu to get to the right place. It may also be to signpost your partner to the right organisation to get the help and support that they need.
This opportunity will allow you to showcase your great communication skills and to learn new skills along the way.
You will be provided with training which will be carried out over the first three weeks of your time with DIAS. This will take place over three afternoons that are most suitable to you and DIAS. This can be discussed before you start.
