We are looking for volunteers to act as running buddies in our new 6 week project with Active Dundee. No prior running experience needed!
Are you a keen runner? Interested in promoting mental health and helping other young people to get into running? We are looking for volunteers to support our new pilot project in collaboration with Active Dundee.
In our limited project, ‘Running Buddies’, you will assist qualified coaches to deliver a running programme to break down barriers to running and promote mental health. Your role is to support the runners and ensure they are safely taking part and feel confident trying new things. You will also help the runners fill out pre and post surveys. This is a limited project lasting around 6 weeks. You will need to attend a 2 hour Feeling Strong induction and commit to attending a Scottish Mental Health First Aid Course (if not already completed)
When - 6 weekly sessions on Thursdays from 27th August - 1st October. 6-7:30pm
Where - Regional Performance Centre, Mains Loan, DD4 9BX
Who - Anyone with a passion for running, the outdoors and mental health!
What’s in it for you? Travel expenses will be reimbursed and you will have the opportunity to undergo FREE Scottish Mental Health First Aid training (normally £250). In this role, you will develop your experience working within small groups, working with young people 1-1 in a group setting and gain confidence talking about mental health.
Interested? Please email [email protected] to arrange a chat or to ask any questions.
