Hot Chocolate Trust is built around youth work volunteers giving their time to build relationships with young people who come through the doors.

Youth work volunteers are a vital part of the team at Hot Chocolate Trust. As a volunteer, you will be part of our weekly open sessions, where you will work as part of the team with a focus on building relationships with the young people who come through the doors, and supporting their holistic development. You can also choose to be involved in a variety of group work, trips, projects, and individual support.

We encourage volunteers to bring their unique skills, passions, interests and experiences to HCT and their work with young people. We support volunteers to identify areas they would like to grow and develop too, and seek out opportunities to make this happen.

Volunteers can expect a high level of learning and support from us, including a full induction covering youth work practice, vision and values, safeguarding/child protection, and our policies & procedures, as well as regular support & supervision and ongoing training opportunities. No prior experience is required to volunteer with Hot Chocolate Trust. Key skills required are good listening and team working skills, and an openness to learn and develop youth work practice.

All youth work volunteers are first subject to a disclosure through the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Our Recruiting People with Convictions Policy is available on request.
